Putting on the Armor of God Daily Preparation
A personal covering prayer based on Ephesians 6:10–18 Always remember your strength is in the Lord and His power, not in yourself alone. It is important to prayerfully put it on your body and soul (psychological nature: intellect, will and emotions and subconscious) Please feel free to personalize it.
Prayer: Dear Father God, Paul and the disciples went through many
spiritual battles while on earth. I need to be battle ready too!
Belt of Truth: it is dangerous to rush into battle without the
truths of the faith in my mind and heart. Protect me from deception
and remind me of Your Truth to think, speak, and act like Jesus.
“Your word says to “gird myself with truth.” I pick up the Belt of Truth
and secure it around the center of my being. “You are the Holy
Spirit of Truth, and Your Word is Truth.” The belt of truth also
encircles my loins protecting my purity.
Breastplate of Righteousness: Thank you God for taking
away my robe of rebellion and sin and replacing it with Jesus’
robe of righteousness. I have been made righteous through the
cleansing blood of the Lamb. I’m taking the soldier’s breast- plate
and putting it on, to protect my heart and soul from the lies of the
enemy. The Breastplate wraps around to protect my back, you
are also my rearguard.
Shoes of the Gospel of Peace: My soldier’s boots, provide
me not only with protection, but balance. If I lose Your peace Lord,
I’ll know that I’m off balance. Holy Spirit fill me, and help me walk
in, ‘peace that passes understanding’. Cure anxiety in myself and
others around me. May my shoes take me places where I can
share the gospel.” May I take peace with me wherever I go.
Shield of Faith: Dear Lord, thank you for the gift of Faith, help me
believe and trust in Your plan for my life. “Faith comes by hearing
and hearing by the Word of God” (vs. 10:17). May my faith grow
daily as I meditate on your Word. When the fiery darts (the lies,
fears and doubts of the world) are shot at me, make me alert to
quickly put up my shield of faith, to deflect them. Help me stay in
community so that in intense warfare I can link shields with others
in the Army of God.
The Helmet of Salvation: Thank you, Lord, for the awesome
gift of salvation which preserves and delivers me now and forever.
Your promises sustain me in the battle. I take the helmet of
Salvation to protect my mind which is a treasure that I must take
care of and not allow to be defiled. I consecrate my mind to you
today, so that there is no room for deception.
The Sword of the Spirit: “For the Word of God is quick, and
powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to
the dividing asunder of soul and spirit” (Hebrews 4:12). The
double-edged sword is You, the living Word, and the Bible, the
written Word. You fought our enemy with Scripture Swords and
won, remind me to do the same. Help me read and memorize
your Word which keeps it close at hand and remind me of the
specific scripture needed for each situation.
Praying Always in the Spirit: “Let the saints be joyful in glory:
let them sing aloud upon their beds. Let the high praises of God be
in their mouth...” (Ps. 149:5,6).
As I stand here fully clothed with
Your protective armor, remind me to pray, sing, thank and praise
You in my native language, and in the gift of Tongues, for total
victory in the battles past, present and future. In Jesus’ mighty
Name,
Amen.

Yielding Prayer
Dear Father God, I yield my will to You. I give You permission to go to any level within me, to heal, cleanse, and restore according to Your truth. To the best of my ability, I invite You to be my Lord, unconditionally. Please be Lord of my subconscious, as well as my conscious mind. I renounce every false teaching and attitude, and ask You to cleanse and protect me with Jesus’ Blood. I cast down every wrong imagination and everything that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and I bring every thought captive to the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You, Lord God in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
